SCOPE
Since the first meeting, in 1992, the ISSRNS was organized as a biennial event. It is a traditional forum for discussing fundamental issues of application of the synchrotron radiation and related methods in natural science (physics, chemistry, materials science, molecular biology, biomedicine), covering in particular the following topics :
  • Synchrotron and alternative radiation sources - instrumentation
  • X-ray absorption and magnetic dichroism
  • X-ray fluorescence
  • Photoelectron spectroscopy
  • Surface and interface studies
  • X-ray scattering and magnetic effects
  • X-ray diffraction
  • Catalysis
  • Nanocrystals and nanostructures
  • X-ray imaging microscopy and lithography
  • Infrared spectroscopy
  • Free electron laser
  • Macromolecular crystallography
  • Atom and molecular studies
  • Synchrotron radiation in biology and medicine
The scientific program of the ISSRNS includes invited general lectures, poster sessions and panel discussions. The Scientific Committee invites also a presentation option called "invited original talk" addressed to the contributors who would like to present particularly interesting, new results as a short lecture (not exceeding 30 min). The applicant for the "invited original talk" should submit, before January 15, 2002 , an extended abstract of 2 pages. The submitted abstracts will be refereed and qualified by the Scientific Committee. The authors of accepted abstracts, receiving the status of the "invited original talk" speakers, will be entitled to pay reduced participation costs (one author per contribution).

PUBLICATION Invited and contributed papers presented at the ISSRNS will be published in a special volume of the of the Journal of Alloys and Compounds (Elsevier).

The proceedings of the previous Schools were published in the following volumes of the
Acta PhysicaPolonica A : ISSRNS'92 - vol.82 nos 1/2, ISSRNS'94 - vol.84 nos 3/4, ISSRNS'96 - vol.91 nos 4/5. The proceedings of later Schools were published in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds : ISSRNS'98 - vol. 286 (1999), ISSRNS'2000 - vol. 328 (2001) .
