ISSRNS 2002 Jaszowiec - travel and local info

LOCATION AND CLIMATE

The tourist village of Jaszowiec belongs to the Ustron spa, located in Beskidy mountains in the Southern part of Poland, about 30 km from Bielsko-Biala (150 km South-West from Kraków).

In June, the weather is usually warm and pleasant, with the temperature reaching up to 25° C and rather cool nights. Nevertheless, sudden changes including rains and drops of day temperature under 10° C are not exceptional. The sport shoes for mountain hiking are recommended.

Participants can take train. The nearest railway station to the Hotel Gwarek (about 2 km) is Ustron-Polana on the railway line Katowice–Wisla.
The recommended train connections on June 17, 2002 (Monday) from Warszawa, Kraków, or Katowice to the station Ustron - Polana are as follows:

The school bus will be waiting for the participants in front of the railway station in Ustron-Polana starting from 12:15 up to 12:30.

Notice : The direct train connection from Krakow (departure 7:22) to Ustron-Polana (arr. 10:03), which was specified in the 2nd announcement is no more operating on workdays. This is very recent change in timetable made by the Polish Train Company (PKP). Due to this fact, the school bus connection from Ustron-Polana station to the ISSRNS'2002 conference site, originally scheduled at 10:00-10:30 is cancelled.

Following are the approximate prices for the taxi services to Jaszowiec from: Krakow (400 PLN / 120 EURO), Katowice 200 PLN/ 60 EURO, Bielsko-Biala 150 PLN/50 EURO; (prices are for workday service, for night and holidays service the price is 50-100% higher).

There are also bus connections to from Krakow, Katowice and other towns with bus-stops mostly near the railway stations.
