SCOPE OF THE SCHOOL

  •      Since the first meeting, in 1992, the ISSRNS has been organizing  as a biennial event. It is a traditional forum for discussing fundamental issues of application of the synchrotron radiation and related methods in natural science (physics, chemistry, materials science, molecular biology, biomedicine), covering in particular the following topics :
        1. Synchrotron and alternative radiation sources - instrumentation
        2. X-ray absorption and magnetic dichroism
        3. X-ray fluorescence
        4. Photoelectron spectroscopy
        5. Surface and interface studies
        6. X-ray scattering and magnetic effects
        7. X-ray diffraction
        8. Catalysis
        9. Nanocrystals and nanostructures
        10. X-ray imaging microscopy and lithography
        11. Infrared spectroscopy
        12. Free electron laser
        13. Macromolecular crystallography
        14. Atom and molecular studies
        15. Synchrotron radiation in biology and medicine
The scientific program of the School includes invited general lectures, poster sessions and panel discussions. The Scientific Committee invites also a presentation option called "invited original talk" addressed to the contributors who would like to present particularly interesting, new results in a short lecture (not exceeding 30 min). Yhe applicant for the "invited original talk" should submit, before December 15, 1999, an extended abstract of 2 pages. The submitted abstracts will be refereed and qualified by the Scientific Committee. The authors of accepted abstracts , receiving the status of the "invited original talk" speakers, will be entitled to pay reduced participation costs, one author per contribution.
